MacBook Screen Repair in Natick, MA

Cracked, dark, or flickering MacBook displays replaced, plus the “flexgate” backlight fix — MacBook Air and Pro, Retina and Liquid Retina. We replace cracked, dark, and flickering MacBook displays and repair the “flexgate” backlight failure. On every Retina MacBook Air and Pro the screen is a panel bonded inside the aluminum lid, so a proper repair fits a full display assembly — the panel, the hinge-routed display flex cable, the antennas, and the camera — rather than trying to split glass off the LCD the way an older 2009–2011 MacBook allowed. Two faults dominate. “Flexgate” hit the 2016–2017 13-inch MacBook Pro: Apple routed a thin display flex cable over the hinge that was a fraction too short, so it wore through with repeated open-and-close and produced a “stage light” row of bright bands along the bottom of the screen, or a backlight that cuts out once the lid opens past roughly 40 degrees. The second is plain impact damage — a Retina IPS panel that is cracked, black, or throwing colored lines after a knock or a drop. We diagnose which one you have, and after fitting the panel we re-pair True Tone and the ambient-light sensor so brightness and color behave exactly as they did from the factory. WeFixPhones handles macbook screen repair for customers across Natick, MA and nearby towns, typically in under an hour.

Devices we cover: MacBook Air and MacBook Pro — Retina and Liquid Retina, Intel and Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3).

MacBook Screen Repair — questions

Can you fix the MacBook backlight cable issue?

Yes — the “stage light” / flexgate failure is a known issue we repair on affected models. It comes from a display flex cable that wears through over the hinge, so replacing the display assembly with the corrected-length cable clears the bright bands and the backlight cutting out.

Which MacBooks are affected by flexgate?

Mainly the 2016 and 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro, where the original flex cable was too short. Apple ran a free display-repair program for some of those units, but it has since ended; later models lengthened the cable, so newer MacBooks rarely show it.

Do you replace just the glass or the whole screen?

On every Retina MacBook the glass is bonded to the LCD and the panel is built into the lid, so it is a full display-assembly swap — we do not split the glass off separately. Only pre-Retina MacBooks (2012 and earlier) used a removable glass panel or a separately replaceable LCD.

How do I know it is the screen and not the logic board?

Plug in an external monitor. If that shows a perfect picture while the built-in panel stays black, garbled, or lined, the fault is almost always the display or its cable, not the GPU or logic board — and that is a straightforward panel repair.

How long does it take?

MacBook display repairs usually take 1–2 days depending on parts.
